In 1951 [astronomer Professor Page] left Chicago for government service as deputy director of the Operations Research Office in the Department of the Army. Much of his work was classified, and included a six-month tour in Korea during the war and two years in Heidelberg at U.S. Army Headquarters as chief science adviser.
