22.45
At 22.45 on 4 November 1957, an egg-shaped object with a single white light at its base “came down in a rather steep dive at the east end of runway 26” at Kirtland AFB near Albuquerque (New Mexico). It moved and hovered in the east for about one minute, when it raced away upwards on a course of 120 (magnetic?) [sic]. The USAF concluded that it was a small, powerful, private aircraft flying without a flight plan, that became confused and attempted to land at the wrong airport. There was a radar return normal for such an aircraft.
McDonald ridiculed Blue Book‘s evaluation of the object and was the only person to check the report with the original witnesses.
