Summer 1944, “near or past noon”
Vast black cigar-shaped object emits three clouds which each emit a white disc. Object disappears in an unusual fashion.
Object appearance: Large “football-“shape; “the size of two city blocks”; dull black in color; smaller white discs
The witness (an artist) [Mrs Franceen Andron] was walking and resting near the campground on a hot, clear, sunny day and was probably facing east (“sun was in back of me”). “When I gazed up, the [object] was visible. I was astounded – the size overwhelmed me. I thought it was a Zeppelin, but soon found out differently. It stood still. It was black as ebony and dull. [It] had no wings or under-compartment, [and] no windows… And a Zeppelin would have appeared as a watermelon alongside this. Then, suddenly, a cloud shot… from underneath the belly of the [object] near the center-right, [and] from the cloud shot out a shining (white) disc [which] made a sort of circle flying about the [object], as if exercising. Then [it] stopped on the right side of the [object] [and] sharply stood still… Then came forth a second puff and out came another disc, same size [as the first] ([which was the size of] a large grapefruit [at arm’s length]), same color. But instead of the exercise it flew fast, [and] a little past the left of the [object], it stopped sharply. Then the first disc started to rise toward the sky in a straight line and [at] very great speed and disappeared gradually. Now came the third disc, [the] same size, color and [through] a cloud (which, by the way, did not appear as smoke, but a cloud as one sees in the heavens); flying to a little further than the right side of the [object], it stopped sharply! It seems to me that the two discs then seemed to maneuver in a sort of playful manner – I cannot recall too clearly. But I do remember the next procedure, for the large [object] suddenly disappeared and appeared as a switch of [a] light bulb [showing as] smaller and grey [in] color, [then it] disappeared and appeared again in the same manner only appearing still smaller and in [a] fog-blue (light), then [finally] disappeared [completely]. [Small object to] left flew west – right flew east – rapidly disappearing.”
The witness spoke to a soldier who happened to be passing nearby, who, in response to her questions, said “You ask too many questions. Are you a spy? We don’t know [what that is]. They are always around here. Don’t go telling anyone about this.”
